We're off to Creativation

Hi Everyone

Our bags are packed (again) and we're off to Creativation (formally known as CHA).  This year the show is in Phoenix which thankfully is well away from the very cold weather currently in the north of the States.

We have classes with some of our favourite companies - Ranger, Sizzix, Spellbinders, Prima and Art Impressions and then hit the floor for some serious shopping (I'll apologise now Dad).

Vince is in charge of the shop while we are away, so if you need something, please give him a call.

We are only away for a week, so will see you all soon.

Product Review - Mini Cutting Machines

Hi Friends

We are in the process of packing our bags to head over to Phoenix next week for Creativation (formally known as CHA) and all of the excitement that that brings with it - I can't wait!!  Thankfully Phoenix is not in the middle of all the weather issues happening on the East coast of the US, so it should be a smooth trip.

We have had a lot of people asking us about the many new mini die cutting machines that have been released at the end of 2017 and thought we would take you through the two that we are currently carrying.

Firstly, Mr Tim Holtz released the Tim Holtz Sidekick Starter Kit with Sizzix.  This unit cuts and embosses paper and is designed for dies up to 6.25cm wide.  This unit comes with 6 stamps, 11 Thinlit Dies, a Texture Fades embossing folder, cutting pads and embossing pad.
This unit has been very popular (as all Tim Holtz products are) and we have very limited stock. You will find them on our website for $85 (plus postage) -

The second machine worth mentioning is the Altenew Mini Blossom die cutting machine.  The Mini Blossom Die Cutting Machine includes cutting matts and will cut dies up to 7.5cm wide.
We have had the Mini Blossom Die Cutting machine in our shop for a couple of weeks and it has been very popular.  This machine is slightly wider than the Tim Holtz Sidekick, however it doesn't include the stamps, dies and Texture Fades.

The price of this machine is $85 (plus postage) and you will find it on our website - http://michellescardsandstamps.com.au/products-page/altenew-tools/

Hoping you have a great week

Calendar Project: January 2018

Dear Friends

Happy New Year - We hope 2018 is a fantastic year for your all!!

Here's our calendar for January - a re-boot of one of our calendars that was in our December 2016 class.

This calendar starts with a base of Bazzill Lily White, followed by Stardream Silver, Gold Foil and Bazzill Beetle Black.

Over the Beetle Black,  I stamped the Fireworks from the Darkroom Door set - Celebration (DDRS158) in Versamark and then dusted over the top with Perfect Pearls in Clear, Sunflower Gold, Pewter and Berry Twist.  The Perfect Pearls create a fantastic background and overlapping them makes them look more realistic.

I then stamped the Champagne glasses and embossed them with WOW Gold Pearl Embossing Powder and coloured with Copic Markers - YR23 and Y21.  I then tipped a little Sunflower Gold Perfect Pearls on a Non-Stick Craft Sheet, sprayed a little water and covered the glasses with gold shimmer.

I coloured Scrap Matts 'January' with Tarnished Brass Distress Paint and added them to the page.  Lastly I added the '2018', cut from Gold Foil card with the My Favorite Things Numbers Die-namics die set.

Hoping you have a fantastic January.

Darkroom Door - Tropical Flowers

Hi Everyone

We're back again with another card from the new release from Darkroom Door - Tropical Flowers (DDRS182), this time using the Frangipani's.

This card starts with a base of Bazzill Lily White, Fawn and then Whirlpool card. All layers of this card were distressed with a Tim Holtz Distresser.

On the Whirlpool card, I stamped the Wordblock stamp - Seaside (DDWB013) using a Distress Ink Pad - Peacock Feathers.  I also stamped the 'Happy Birthday' from the Birthday Wordblock stamp (DDWB001) and embossed it with WOW Opaque Bright White embossing powder.

Now for the Frangipani flowers - these flowers have been stamped on white card using an Memento Cantaloupe ink pad.  The reason for using this ink pad is that I don't really want to see the lines of the stamp (sorry Rachel), but use them as a guide for colouring the stamped image.

Firstly, I coloured the yellow and white Frangipani using Copic Markers, starting in the centre with Copic Markers YR24, YR23, Y21 and Y00, gradually getting lighter as I moved towards the outer petal.

Then I started colouring the yellow and pink Frangipani's.  To start, colour the Frangipani using the same colours as the first flower and then add pinks using Copic Markers RV52 and RV55, gradually moving towards the centre of the petals.

I added some mesh from May Arts and then adhered the flowers to the card using glue and mounting tape.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Darkroom Door - Tropical Flowers

Hi Everyone

Christmas is now past us and the warm weather continues here in Brisbane - perfect timing for using the Darkroom Door Tropical Flowers stamp set (DDRS182).

This is the first of two cards that I've made and coloured using Copic Markers.

The base card is Bazzill Dotted Swiss - Sandbox and layered up with Bazzill Creampuff, the middle layer was coloured with Copic Marker R83.

On the top Creampuff card, I stamped the Darkroom Door Herringbone stamp (DDBS052), stamped with Distress Ink Pad - Antique Linen.  The words 'Enjoy Life' is from the stamp set Enjoy Life (DDRS036) which is stamped on Bazzill Whirlpool card with Versamark and embossed with WOW Opaque Bright White embossing powder.

The leaves in the background is from the new Darkroom Door stamp set - Tropical Leaves (DDRS183) which was cut out and coloured with Copic Markers YG63, YG67 and G29.  I then coloured two Hibiscus flowers from the Tropical Flowers stamp set using Copic markers R81, R83, R85, R37, YR23, YR68.

We hope you enjoy this card and if you are interested in the stamps, you can find them on our website - http://michellescardsandstamps.com.au/products-page/darkroom-door-stamps-by-designer/ and as always, the stamps are pre-cut, ready to use at home.
